Well-listed American realist artist, George Bellows is most known for his paintings and lithographs depicting scenes from American life including his action paintings, urban landscapes, and portraiture. Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Bellows went on to study art in New York under Robert Henri. His studies and association with Henri led Bellows to be an influential part of the artistic movement known as The Ashcan School.

George Bellows’ works are represented in the permanent collections of the Brooklyn Museum of Art; Butler Institute of American Art; Corcoran Gallery of Art; Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco; Los Angeles County Museum of Arts; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Museum of Modern Art, New York; National Gallery of Art, Washington; Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts; Smithsonian American Art Museum; United States Library of Congress, and Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, among many others.
