Begg was known his book designs, drawings, and abstract figural sculptures. He studied at Columbia University and worked as a book designer and editor at American Book Company, as art director and vice-president at Oxford University Press, and as an instructor in art and design at New York University. His work is represented in the Indiana Museum of Modern Art, the New York Public Library, Hudson River Museum, and Addison Gallery of American Art.
