Richard Heichberger was born in 1945 in upstate New York, where he spent his childhood developing an interest in art as well as the outdoors. He studied at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and the Carnegie Technical Institute, but his career was interrupted when he enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1965. After leaving the armed services he settled in Orange County California where he continued his fine art practice while working at a myriad of companies, including Disney, Bear Animation, Warner Brothers, Landmark Entertainment and Fox. Heichberger is finally able to practice his art full time, taking inspiration for his landscapes from both the deserts of Arizona, and the mountains of the West.
