Frank Henry Shapleigh was a Boston raised painter who studied painting at the Lowell Institute of Drawing. He also studied in the studio of Emile Lambinet (1815-1877) after the Civil War. Known for his landscape paintings, he worked throughout New England as well as in California and Florida for a period of time. He was artist-in-residence at the Crawford House in New Hampshire and in the winter at the Ponce de Leon Hotel in St. Augustine.
