Mid-Century Atelier Janiyé 14K Yellow Gold Ruby and Diamond Ring
Item Details
A vintage Atelier Janiyé 14K yellow gold diamond and ruby ring, circa 1950’s. Atelier Janiyé was formed in the 1950s by renowned jewelry designer Miye Matsukata along with two other graduates of the School of the MFA in Boston. In 1958 Miye Matsukata became the sole owner of the studio where she worked until her death in 1981. Matsukata and her colleagues at the Atelier were considered to be the first mid-century jewelers to create one-of-a-kind pieces that evoked expressionistic spontaneity in abstract compositions.
