A vintage hand-knotted Persian Baluch area rug. This wool pile rug is rendered in a variegated palette of madder red, rose, indigo, sage, midnight blue, and ivory. The field features an allover mina khani pattern of polyagonal medallions with floral centers and sawtooth edges, arrow and diamond designs, and hooked geometric forms flanking each short end of the field. Framing the field are compound borders featuring rosette, stylized S, animal head, and reciprocal motifs in complementary colorways. The rug is finished with overcast barber pole selvedges and wool warp fringe. A label to the reverse reads “Made in Iran”.
