A collection of three volumes from the series Scènes de la vie de Province by Honoré de Balzac. Known for realism in fiction, this French language collection features Les Parents Pauvres. La Cousine Bette Volumes I-II and Volume III of Illusions Perdues: Les Souffrances de L’Inventeur. The leather and marbled bound volumes features five raised spine bands, gilt lettering and marbled endpapers. Several of Balzac’s works were made into feature films including Cousin Bette.
