Mary V. Keenan was born in Virginia, and worked as a professional artist and teacher in Cincinnati, Ohio from about 1855 – 1895. She concentrated on painting, pottery decoration, fresco design, and botanical illustration. Though never directly employed by the company, she decorated pottery for The Rookwood Pottery, as well as teaching for both the Cincinnati Pottery Club and the Cincinnati Museum Association.

- toning to sheet; accretion to painting and mat; debris under glass; light wear to frame.
