A Laura Fry artist signed Rookwood glazed pitcher designed with a finely painted barn swallow with thin brown colored grass. Dated 1884 to the underside, this bulbous drinking vessel presents a light brown top with pouring spot and handle. Laura Anne Fry (January 22, 1857 – 1943) was an American artist who was born in White County Indiana and specialized in wood carving and ceramic artwork. She was a professor of Art at Purdue University later in her life. In the 19th Century, Laura Fry created and designed the organ screen at historic Music Hall in Cincinnati, Ohio.
