Rudolph Carl Gorman (1931-2005) was a Navajo artist called the “Picasso of American Indian art” by the New York Times; his preferred medium was painting, but he also created sculptures, and stone lithographs. His works primarily included female figures with fluid forms and bright colors. Notably, he was included and featured on the cover of catalog for “Masterworks of the American Indian” at the Metropolitan Museum in New York City; he was the only living artist shown.
