Flame Mahogany Empire Period Secretary Attributed to Fiske Family of Boston

A Boston Made secretary featuring flame mahogany construction, crown molding to the pediment and arched glass doors with symmetrical mahogany mullions. The Case has three shelves and brass hardware and rests upon a drop front desk with maple drawers and five letter holders. The front of the desk opens on arched brass hardware and this piece has three stacked drawers below the writing surface. The drawers have brass batwing bails and escutcheons and are framed by plainly turned pillars. This piece rests on metal casters and includes a framed family crest and history of the Fiske family.
