Elizabeth Roth Miller loved American Indian art and culture. To express her appreciation of it, she dedicated a large portion of her creative efforts to 50 paintings on silk of Hopi Kactina (Kachina) or Indian religious fetish dolls. It took her seven years to research and complete the project. She chose to use dyes and acrylics together on silk, an unusual medium for an unusual subject – the dolls used by Hop Indians in religious ceremonies. She intended to sign the paintings all at once, but due to illness, never achieved this goal. Her legacy is this collection of paintings.
