A selection of four books concerning the works of Danish philosopher Soren Kierkegaard. Features the first English translation of his work ‘Either/Or.’ The full title of Volume One is entitled ‘Either/Or, A Fragment of Life,’ and was translated by David F. and Lillian Marvin Swenson. Published 1944 Princeton University Press, 387 pages including index. Volume Two was translated by Walter Lowrie and was published in 1944 by the Princeton University Press, 304 pages with index. The other volumes in this lot are ‘Stages on Life’s Way,’ published 1940 Princeton University Press (appears to be a first edition), translated by Walter Lowrie, 472 pages including index. Finally a slim volume by Theodor Haeker, translated by Alexander Dru and published by the Philosophical Library, New York, 1950 entitled ‘Kierkegaard the Cripple,’ 53 pages.
Condition
Light signs of wear consistent with age and use. Dust jacket on “Kierkegaard the Cripple” is torn on edges.
