1927 Two-Volume "The Diary of Samuel Pepys" and 1924 "The Soul of Samuel Pepys"

A group of three 20th century books about Samuel Pepys (1633-1703). Included is a two-volume set ‘The Diary of Samuel Pepys’ deciphered by the Rev. J. Smith (London, J.M. Dent and Sons, 1927). The books are finely bound with three-quarter red leather with red cloth, raised bands and gilt to spine and marbled endpapers. There are 34 drawings in crayon and pen and ink by Major Benton Fletcher and many portraits. Also included is a book titled ‘The Soul of Samuel Pepys’ by Gamaliel Bradford (Boston, Houghton Mifflin Company, 1924), illustrated and bound in print paper with blue cloth to spine. Condition
Good overall, some wear to spine of two volume set and minor rubbing to cover. Single book has faded spine with detached frontispiece.
