Margaret Elder Philbrick is best known for her landscape paintings and intricate printmaking. She acquired her artistic training at the Massachusetts School of Art in Boston and subsequently, at the De Cordova Museum in Lincoln, Massachusetts. Philbrick was an active member of multiple organizations including the National Academy of Design, the Boston Printmakers Presentation Print, the Academy of Artists, the New England Watercolor Society, the Miniature Painters, the Washington Sculptors and Gravers Society, the Miniature Art Society from New Jersey, the World Federation Miniature Artists and the Miniature Art Society. Her work has been exhibited in various institutions including the Library of Congress and the Boston Public Library.
Condition
- clouded accretion to underside of glass; toning to paper with mat burn along sight edges; slight discoloration and foxing to mat board, with pin holes to corners and slight gap along upper edge inside frame window; scratches and edge wear to frame, with mirrored accents not meeting evenly in corners.
