Born in the Kagawa prefecture, Bando was inspired at a young age by the works of Albrecht Dürer. He graduated from Kagawa University in 1962 and won the Japan Print Association Exhibition Association Award the following year. He has since won several awards and participated in many Japanese and international exhibitions including the Krakow International Print Biennale. His work is housed internationally in several private and public collections including the British Museum, the Cleveland Museum of Art, and the Museum of Modern Art, Kamakura and Hayama.
