Alfred L. Bright is a renowned, award winning African-American artist and educator. Born in Youngstown, Ohio in 1940, he went on to attend Youngstown State University, and after earning his masters degree at Kent Stat he returned to his alma mater where he founded and directed the black studies program. He is equally passionate about jazz music and art, often painting his bright abstract compositions as it plays in the background. In addition to winning numerous awards for his art, he has served as an Ohio Arts Council fellow and as a member of the Congressional Braintrust on Arts.
