1862 Civil War Discharge Paper and Pettibone GAR Battlefield Muslin Lithograph
Item Details
Some of the battles in which soldier fought include Bull Run, Sharpsville, Falls Church, South Mountain, Fredericksburg, and more as written on the lithograph. The lithograph is dated 1862 and presents colorful images of soldiers, artillery equipment, and battlefield scenes. There is also a black and white portrait headshot of President Abraham Lincoln that reads ‘The Soldier’s Friend.’

- tears, folds, creasing, tape, edge fraying, discoloration, tape remnants on border edges for reinforcement, soiling, stains, toning, and yellowing noted
- the discharge paper is housed in a protective sleeve attached to the back of the frame and reads “New York 24th Volunteer Regiment.”
- copyright 1883 Pettibone Manufacturing Company Cincinnati, Ohio at the bottom in small black print
- the lithograph is framed in a simple inexpensive black plastic with protective acrylic plastic covering, the piece is loose in its frame
- white paper label residue stuck to the protective covering

- the measurements reflect the size of the GAR lithograph out of its frame lying flat
- the discharge paper measures 11" wide by 8.5" tall
