An oil painting on canvas by German artist Ernst Albert Fischer-Cörlin (1853-1932). This image depicts a still life with irises surrounded by eastern orthodox items. The painting is signed and dated to the lower left corner. It is housed in a gold gilt frame with hanging wire to the verso. Ernst Albert Fischer-Cörlin studied at the Prussian Academy of Arts in Berlin as a pupil of Eduard Daege and Julius Friedrich Anton Schrader. He later studied under Anton von Werner as a master student.
Condition
- craquelure; scattered areas of slight discoloration and minor darkening overall; scattered areas of inpainting; small areas of loss near and along lower edge; strip of painted wood attached to lower edge of canvas; wear to frame including areas of loss and prior repairs.
