Late 1800s Binnacle Oil Lamp for Viewing Ship's Compass

Item Details

A late 1800s binnacle oil lamp for viewing ship’s compass. The lamp was made of brass and wood so it would not interfere with the sensitive instrumentation of the ship’s navigational compass when it was viewed at night. Lamp is actually housed in the brass case and is removable for filling with oil. Wick protector shows the mark ‘BARTON’.
