Referred to as the ‘Grandpa Moses of Arlington’, Gideon Cohen was a self-taught artist who learned to paint at the age of 69 by watching the educational T.V. station in Boston. In his ouvre of about 200 paintings, much of his work features his garden or local architecture and landscapes. Solo exhibitions of his work have been held at the Concord Free Public Library; the Scolley Square Gallery; and the Arlington, Massachusetts Town Hall. Other institutions that have exhibited his work include the Lexington Arts and Crafts Society and Painters Guild, Waltham St. Gallery, The Vault Gallery of Boston Safe and Deposit Trust Co., and the Boston Copley Society, among others.

- accretions and marks throughout painting particularly to the lower center and left; scratches and nicks throughout the frame.
