A prolific printmaker, painter, and draughtsmen, Dutch master Rembrandt van Rijn Rembrandt (Netherlands, 1606 – 1669) is considered one of the greatest painters and printmakers in European art history. He created works with intense Chiaroscuro and rejuvenated classical portraiture with his use of movement to convey emotion. Rembrandt’s etchings are extremely detailed and perfectly illustrate his profound observations of the human form. His works are currently on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the Frick Collection, New York; the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam; and the National Gallery, London, among many others.
