Large 1800s Penny Wooden Doll

A large antique Penny wooden doll, 21” tall, from the 1800s. Such dolls were not initially made for children; in the 18th century, dressmakers outfitted dolls with the latest styles in dresses to send to the colonies as advertisements for their fabrics and trims. It wasn’t until later that small jointed wooden dolls were made for children. Head has two tooled holes to the top. Possibly used as a marionette at one time. Please note, antique high chair shown is for display only and sold as another item.
Condition
Good for age. The clothing is in need of cleaning & repair rated poor. Doll head has scratches and holes at the top and limbs show chips. Recommend preview to assess antique condition of this piece.
