George III Mahogany and Pine Chest of Drawers, Circa 1800
Item Details
The top and sides of the case are pine while the drawer fronts are mahogany-veneered (over an oak secondary) with inlaid, bone escutcheons. Also included are four later/associated, turned oak feet as well as a later/associated strip of molding, which was attached to the back edge of the top at one time (none of these are currently attached to the case).

- overall with various scratches, marks, nicks/chips, cracks, and abrasions consistent with age and use; the chest was possibly the upper section of a high boy, a chest-on-chest, or a chest-on-stand; base molding is possibly later as well as the backboards of the case and the drawer handles; some former pest damage (worming) with associated marks and losses; no key; a few of the drawers are lined in later contact paper; other possible imperfections, wear, and repairs/restorations.
