A Benin bronze (technically cast brass) memorial head of an Oba (King) by the Edo (present day Nigeria, Africa). The royal depicted is wearing a criss-cross openwork crown with clusters of beads and pendants hanging at each side then flared at the base. A wide collar covers the chin, the cheeks appear swollen.
