Butler Steltemeier is a mostly self-taught artist based in Tennessee, with a specialty in whimsical watercolor portraits of agricultural animals, often embellished with fashion accessories. She began her art training at Spring Hill College under Father Craigan and later continued her studies at the Art Students League in New York. Steltemeier’s work has been exhibited and collected by the Tennessee State Museum, South Central Bell and American Airlines Headquarters, among other institutions. Some notable private collectors of her work include Whoopi Goldberg, Billy Joel, Steve and Eugenia Winwood, and Al and Tipper Gore. She has also received recognition and awards from several artist organizations such as the American Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society.
