General Sir Bernard Montgomery Signed Edition "Poems From the Desert" Visual COA
Item Details
A George Montgomery signed hardcover novel titled Poems From the Desert. Presenting a full name signature with the rank of ‘General’ added, this historic autograph has received a ‘visual pass’ from JSA. This novel was published in 1944 by George G. Harrap & Co. Ltd. London, exhibiting loose pages with a worn detached spine. General Montgomery commanded the British Eighth Army from August 1942 in the Western Desert until the final Allied victory in Tunisia, May 1943. He also commanded the British Eighth Army during the Allied invasion of Sicily and the Allied invasion of Italy. General Montgomery then continued in command of the 21st Army Group for the rest of the campaign in North West Europe. Montgomery was given command of the US First Army and the US Ninth Army, stopping the German advance and sending them into reverse. On May 4, 1945, he took the German surrender at Lüneburg Heath in Northern Germany.
