Born in Vietnam, Lebadang emigrated to France in 1939, where he fought for the Resistance against the Nazi invasion. After surviving capture and internment in a prison camp, he went on to study at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Prolific in both painting and printmaking, Lebadang combined elements of Asian and Western art traditions to create textured, abstracted images of animals.

Condition

- glue/paint is peeling somewhat away from surface; spot to margin at lower right corner; waviness to sheet at upper center; accretions to inside of glass at lower right quadrant; yellowing to mat; wear to frame.
