"Sonic Wind" Rocket Test Sled Memorabilia with John Paul Sapp Autograph

A collection of items related to the United States Air Force rocket test sleds Sonic Wind No. 1 and Sonic Wind No. 2. The lot includes a framed group of memorabilia for Lt. Col. John Paul Sapp, MD who piloted Sonic Wind No. 1 with an autographed photograph. There are also wooden scale models of the two sleds. The Sonic Wind sleds were used in the 1950’s to determine the ability of human pilots to withstand high G-force acceleration and deceleration. Dr. Sapp was an early test pilot in the program.
