A large, thrown and sculpted porcelain lidded jar by Kentucky artist Larry Watson, having a matte green dripped glaze with asymmetric twisted handled and lid handle. The vase features facial forms on either side with embedded glass beads, resting on an altered foot.
A 2008 recipient of the Artist Emeritus award by the Kentucky Arts Council, Larry Watson is an accomplished Kentucky artist who has been creating fine porcelain pottery for more than twenty-five years. His work has been featured in notable publications, including Ceramics Monthly, Crafts Report, and Arts Across Kentucky. Watson has served as adjunct professor at Northern Kentucky University, and as president for the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen, and on the board of the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea. Though most of his career has been spent in Kentucky, his work has been influenced by his participation in art exchange programs in both the Ukraine and France.
