Influenced by German Expressionism and graffiti elements, Keil is known for his simplified abstractions of traditional art subjects. He studied under Otto Nagel at a young age and developed relationships with other renowned artists such as Joan Miro. As Keil abandoned realism and developed his signature style, he used more vibrant colors rapidly applied with large gestural brushstrokes resembling the abstract style of Picasso.

- painting surface has been adhered to mat, and torn apart in some places leaving areas of loss and rough edges to painting; scattered accretion to painting and mat; creasing to mat to upper right; nicks, abrasions and wear to frame.
