Max Walter was primarily known for his advertisement and interior design illustrations. He began his formal artistic training at the Art Students League and posteriorly, at The Cooper Union School of Art, New York. Upon graduating, Walter further pursued his artistic career as an interior design illustrator, refining his technique while continuing his education at the School of Interior Design, New York working under the likes of renowned artists Nancy McClelland, Paul Chalfin, and Ruby Ross Wood. Walter worked as an advertisement illustrator for Tomlinson and Drexel Heritage Companies, although most of his refined furniture and design illustrations were created for the prestigious New York furniture and rug company W. & J. Sloane, where he consistently worked for forty years.
