A mahogany secretary desk from Northwestern Cabinet Company of Burlington, Iowa. Circa 1930. Retains original sticker to back
In its 1930’s catalog this desk is referred to as a ‘Governor Winthrop’ desk. The design of this desk reflects mid to late 18th century in taste and would most closely be associated with the Chippendale style.
Birch wood constructed with Mahogany stain. It features a swan neck pediment to top above double glass doors and drop down desk. The piece features a slant front desk with fitted interior, prospect door and document drawers to the interior. To bottom case four stacked serpentine front drawers with dovetail construction and bat wing back plate and bail pulls raised on claw and ball feet. Key present.
Condition
- fair, extensive wear to finish and surface scratches through out. One foot is very loose.
