According to the London Gazette of 1824, John Mead the elder, John Mead the younger, and William Mead were upholsterers (cabinet makers) working at No. 8 and No. 9 Castle Street, Long Acre, in the Parish of Saint Giles in the Fields of Middlesex County. Their partnership was dissolved on March 6, 1824.

- overall with various scratches, marks, nicks, and abrasions consistent with age and use; scattered veneer cracks, chips, and repairs including corners of top; some chips to cockbeading; drawer interiors with some sticky residue from previously-mounted contact paper; handles are associated; front feet with some repairs; left side panel with some stains along bottom and feet; skirt missing a couple glue blocks; no key.
