- discoloration to image including slight yellowing of varnish and spread of pink accent coloring; scratches and surface abrasions to glass causing image loss, concentrated to lower quarter of image, with others noted on collar and to upper right; staining from moisture damage creates “halo” effect around subject’s head; discoloration throughout fabrics of frame mat; wear to silk fillet resulting in frays and threadbare tearing at folds; wear to pile on velvet mats; corner stick broken off to upper right on mat; scuffs and loss of fabric to raised stick border; scratches, chips, and additional wear to gold tone finish of frame; natural imperfections to antique glass; tears to paper backing with tape support to verso; surface tearing to frame maker’s label under easel support making it illegible.
