Black and White Warbler
Serigraph on paper
Signed in plate to lower right
From Ford Times Bird Series
A serigraph on paper designed by well-listed American artist and conservationist Charley Harper (Cincinnati Ohio, 1922 – 2007), titled Black and White Warbler, from Harper’s mid-century Ford Times bird series. The image depicts the sprightly warbler perched near the end of a thin, spindly twig, gazing inquisitively downwards against a blue sky. Artist signature is signed in plate to the lower right. This work is protected behind glass and mounted in a simple contemporary black frame, equipped to hang.
Harper was a beloved Cincinnati-based artist and conservationist, renowned for his minimal realism style. He was quoted as saying “I don’t try to put everything in, I try to leave everything out.” His work is delightfully laced with humor and sometimes includes short prose.
