1870 Victorian Patent Document with Large Wax Seal

An 1870 antique vellum patent document, issued by the British government during the reign of Queen Victoria. It grants Liverpool-based patent agent John Thompson King a patent on behalf of inventor George Colin Davies of Dayton, Ohio for ‘Improvements in Wood Screws and Machinery Employed in the Manufacture Thereof’. It is hand-written on vellum, and features a tassel at the bottom with an attached large (7’ diameter) wax seal featuring an image of Queen Victoria. Includes its original case with the J.T. King patent office logo to the lid.
