Born in France in 1931, Yves Ganne studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts of Nantes before apprenticing under Fernand Léger. His work consisted of a broad range of subjects including figures and still lifes rendered in rich hues and high contrast, with one of his most notable pieces being Still of Pears. He first began his artistic career by exhibiting at the Prix de la Jeune Peinture in 1950 and was later awarded the Prix de la Ville de Menton. His work is featured in many private and public collections including the French Government, the City of Paris, and the Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris.
