Grabach is widely regarded as one of the most important figures in the Newark School of Painters, and is known for his deeply complex compositions of New York City and working class citizens, on par with the Ashcan paintings of his time period. His works are represented in the permanent collections of numerous prestigious institutions, including the Art Institute of Chicago; El Paso Museum of Art; Corcoran Gallery of Art; Smithsonian National Museum of American Art; The Columbus Museum of Art, Ohio; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; The Columbus Museum of Art, Georgia; The John H. Vanderpoel Art Association; Oklahoma City Museum of Art; The Newark Museum; Norton Museum of Art; and Smith College Museum of Art, among others.
