A cast metal replica of 20th Century Bust of a Laotian Woman after the multiple bronze casts produced by Nguyen Thanh Le (1919 – 2006, Vietnamese) The black coated bust depicts a beautiful young Laotian woman with her hair pulled back and twisted into a bun.
Nguyen Thanh Le, a student of the E’ Cole des Beaux Arts de I. ‘Indochine during the very early 20th century, is known for his sculptural works and lacquer panels, including lacquer production for the luxury French liner S.S. Normande. After graduation he traveled abroad, primarily in Western Europe, before returning to Vietnam where he taught and established his atelier. He maintained his business through the cultural revolution of Ho Chi Minh, founding Thanh Le Lacquer Corp. in Thu Dan Mot in the late 1940’s.
