St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk Icon with 875 Silver Oklad

An early 20th century Russian icon with 875 silver oklad, featuring St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk. The patron saint for Belarus, day of veneration May 23rd, is depicted with two angels holding her six-armed cross, standing in front of a city etched into the silver. Beneath the feet is a Kokoshnik standard 84 mark with Moscow assay and unidentified maker ‘ЕУ.’

Condition

- tearing to edges and creasing and denting to the piece; oklad overlay is detaching from the icon; tarnishing; staining and discoloration to the felted cover to the sides and reverse.
