Artist Pat Lasch is known for her provocative sculptures of feminine objects, such as wedding dresses and wedding cakes, often constructed of acrylic paint, bronze, wood, and paper. Raised in New York, she studied at Queens College of the City University of New York. She was commissioned by the Museum of Modern Art to create a 5-foot-2-inch cake sculpture in 1979 for their 50th anniversary. Other institutions that have exhibited or collected her work include P.S. 1, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, among others.
