An oil painting on canvas by listed artist Harvey Joiner (1852 – 1932). This painting utilizes short strokes to layer deep tones of amber, red, and umber to render a clearing between trees in a forest. The painting is unsigned. The painting is presented in a gold toned frame.
Harvey Joiner was a beloved Kentucky artist, who primarily worked in Louisville, with a brief stint in Colorado. He spent most of his time in Cherokee Park, where he fashioned his characteristic summer and fall landscapes. A number of Joiner’s paintings ended up in shadow box frames such as the example offered here.
