A 1950s vintage Pauline Trigère full-length coat in dark green wool. The coat has a spread collar, a single button closure at the neckline, an inseam pocket at each side and non-functioning art deco style glass buttons at the sleeve ends. The coat is fully lined in an off-white silk and has a brand label attached as well as a sincerely Gidding Jenny label.
Pauline Trigère (1908 – 2002) was a French born American couturier. She won her first prestigious Coty American Fashion Critics’ Award in 1949. She received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 1993. A few of her most famous clients included Jacqueline Kennedy, Grace Kelly, Wallis Simpson, Bette Davis, and Elizabeth Taylor.
