1776 Continental Congress $4 Currency Note

Item Details

A 1776 Continental Congress $4 currency note. Dated November 2nd, 1776, note features two handwritten signatures and a handwritten serial number (though faint). The front has an emblem that depicts a wild boar charging into a spear. The motto around the emblem says, ‘Aut Mors Aut Vita Decora’ (‘Either death or an honorable life’). The back depicts a nature print of skeletonized maple fruit. Printed by Hall & Sellers, 1776. Note is heavily circulated and measures 3 7/8′ × 3′.
