1776 Continental Congress $2 Currency Note
Item Details
A 1776 Continental Congress $2 currency note. Dated February 17th, 1776, note features two (faint) handwritten signatures and a handwritten serial number (also faint). The front has an emblem that depicts grain being threshed by a flail. The motto around the emblem says, ‘Tribulatio Ditat’ (‘It is enriched by affliction’). The back depicts a nature print of a raspberry and two filbert leaves. Printed by Hall & Sellers, 1776. Note is heavily circulated and measures 3 3/4′ × 2 7/8’.
