1851 "Regulations for the Uniforms & Dress of the Army of the United States"

An 1851 edition of Regulations for the Uniforms & Dress of the Army of the United States from the original text and drawings in the War Department. This volume is bound in impressed cloth covered boards with gilt lettering, features hand-sewn text blocks and is illustrated with lithographic prints in color, hand-colored or black on white. Each of the twenty-five plates features the facsimile signature of the Adjutant General Roger Jones. The five plates which showcase the Army uniforms are tissue-guarded. The remaining plates show the details of the uniform for enlisted men and officers, uniform ornamentation, weapons and equipment for the cavalry.
