Born in Rhode Island, Harold Guenther Breul was a painter, etcher, designer and illustrator who specialized in equestrian compositions and coaching scenes. He studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts under Henry McCarter. His work has been exhibited and collected by the Rhode Island Historical Society, the Providence Art Club, the American Watercolor Society, the Rhode Island State House, and Brown University, among other institutions.

Condition

- date and signature partially lost with chip to the lower right corner; paint loss and frame rub along the edges particularly to the left; minor spots of overpainting particularly to the lower center, along the lower left edge, and to the upper right; marks and abrasions to the finish of the frame; some scratches and nicks to the frame.
