A 20th century carved wood Ethiopian headrest (pillow). This work features a trapezoid-shaped body and is embellished with incised geometric delineations. Headrests were carried by farmers and bushman and used to protect and preserve intricate hairstyles.

Condition

- dust, debris, and abrasions to surface; some cracking, chipping, and scratches to wood; some hair butter residue present; headrest is slightly unstable.
