Victorian Style WM Rogers Silverplated Tea Set
Item Details
An antique WM Rogers silverplated tea set includes lovely serving pieces. Included are two fancy footed tea pots, one tilting teapot and burner stand, a fancy footed creamer and sugar container with a lid and a champagne ice bucket with a removable ice bowl. William Rogers began producing coin silver in the 19th century (est. 1825). The family-run business eventually sold the ‘eagle-WM Rogers-star’ silver mark in 1878 to Simpson, Hall, Miller & Co. and The International Silver Co., whom produced silverplated flatware and hollowware. This stamp was used until production was ceased in 1976. The Victorian style tea set is believed to date around the first half of the 20th century (c. 1900-1950s). All of the pieces have an ‘eagle-WM Rogers-star’ mark except for the sugar container and champagne bucket. The sugar container has no mark, but it is believed to be WM Rogers since it is identical to the creamer. The champagne bucket is silver stamped by Towle.
Condition
The silver plated hollowware need a good polish or to be re-dipped. These pieces are currently diamonds in the rough, but have lovely antique molds worth preserving. All are in functional condition. The wick has not been used on the burner stand. One of the teapot’s feet is slightly bent.
Dimensions
The measurements above are for the champagne bucket only. All of the sizes vary.
